Questions

What Mac do I need?+

Apple Silicon (M1 or later) and macOS 12 Monterey or newer. Intel Macs are not supported.

How big is the first launch download?+

The app DMG is about 341 MB. Speech and optional chapter models download on first launch (multiple GB) and then stay on your machine.

Which languages work today?+

Multilingual Whisper covers Swiss German, High German, English, French, and Italian. A dedicated Askantis Swiss German model is in progress. That is what the fundraiser supports.

Does my audio leave my Mac?+

No. After models are downloaded, transcription runs fully offline. There is no telemetry.

What are donations used for?+

Clean commercial licensing of Swiss German speech corpora and training Askantis's own model, so we can ship a sovereign, commercially clean path without research only data constraints.

Is there a Windows version?+

Not yet. Mac ships first. If demand is clear, we will prioritize Windows. Use the interest link above.

Where are older versions?+

Versioned DMGs stay on Azure. The main download button always points at the latest Scribely.dmg.
